How to change accent colors on the HTC One M9
Customizing a smartphone is a easy way to personalize the device we constantly have nearby. And with the new new HTC One M9, and Sense 7, the Taiwanese company wants you to personalize the device until your heart’s content.
A new Themes app lets you quickly and easily change everything from wallpapers, to icons, to sounds and fonts (we’re working on a how-to post covering it, don’t worry).
But another aspect of personalizing the new One is done by changing the accent colors. Accent colors are found throughout the entire device. From the color of the text below your quick settings, to the color of the status bar at the top of your screen. Accent colors are a subtle yet effective way of changing the appearance of your device.
To change the accent color on your device, launch the Settings app and then select Personalization.
Tap on the Change accent colors option listed in the Themes subsection.
A palette of preset color schemes will be displayed. Tapping on one will activate it immediately, changing to highlight colors along the top of your screen. You can get another glimpse of the new accent color scheme by swiping down from the tip of your screen with two-fingers to access quick settings.
Change the colors until you find something you like and back out of Settings.
You’ll notice as you download various themes from the Themes app, more color accent options are added to this section. That is to say, a new theme’s accent colors aren’t tied to just the theme. So if you download Theme A and would prefer to pair its color options with Theme B, this is where you’d go to do just that.
Additionally, you can set a solid color as the accent should you want a more consistent experience throughout the OS by tapping on the Custom button.
