How to disable Apple Pay on a lost Apple Watch
When Apple touted the ability to disable Apple Pay on a lost Apple Watch, I had assumed it meant the smartwatch would appear in the Find My iPhone app and on the website alongside fellow iOS and OS X devices.
And I was wrong.
The Apple Watch is nowhere to be found within the service, leading to confusion on how exactly you would disable Apple Pay on a lost or stolen Apple Watch.
After some digging, I found an Apple support document detailing where you can find the setting should you be faced with the unfortunate situation.
To disable Apple Pay on an Apple Watch (try saying that three times fast), follow these instructions:
- Visit iCloud.com/Settings using a computer.
- Login using the same iCloud account linked to your Apple Watch.
- If needed, click on the Settings icon to launch the Settings page.
- Under My Devices will be a picture of your Apple Watch, with the Apple Pay logo just below it. Click on your watch.
- Just below the photo of your watch, you’ll find a list of Apple Pay-enabled cards stored on your watch. Click on the blue Remove All link, and confirm your selection when prompted.
Within a few minutes, your bank will disable your Apple Pay cards — even if your watch is offline. Hopefully this is a feature that’s made more accessible in the near future be it through the Find My iPhone app, or directly within the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
