When HTC launched the One M8 last year, a new Dot View case was announced alongside it. The case wrapped around the phone, offering a pixelated view of the time and temperature when you tap on the front of the phone.

The case also offered a means to answer calls and view notifications from a small list of official HTC apps.

With the release of the HTC One M9 earlier this year, the Taiwanese company also released a revamped Dot View case and a pair of new apps to go along with it.

Naturally, when you first install the Dot View case you’ll want to also install the stock HTC Dot View app. This app will provide basic customization options, as well as allow you to swipe through notifications and control music playback with the case closed.

Where the fun really starts with the Dot View case is when you install the HTC Dot Design and HTC Dot Breaker applications.

The Dot Design app gives you various wallpapers and designs to set as your custom background when the case is closed. You can also trace over preselected designs, making them your own or start with a blank canvas and design whatever you’d like.

The Dot Breaker app mimics the familiar brick breaker game where you have control a paddle along the bottom of the screen, bouncing a ball off of towards a patter of bricks above it. It’s a ton of fun, if not more challenging given the dynamic of playing through a case.

Once you install the two additional apps, you will find the new options within the original Dot View app instead of in a separate app; which is a tad confusing at first.
